In the heart of London, our first TechTable event recently convened technical innovators for an evening of sophisticated dining and in-depth discussions on "The Future of Platform Development – GenAI." The gathering took place in the distinguished Michelin Star restaurant, Galvin La Chapelle, known for its exquisite French cuisine and located in a 19th-century chapel in Spitalfields.

TechTable is an exclusive networking event hosted by Vention and held at the finest restaurants in London, offering tech leaders and innovators a platform to connect, discuss industry news and trends, and expand their professional networks. The sessions are moderated by Glyn Roberts, CTO of Digital Solutions at Vention, who ensures participants leave with their minds nourished as he dishes out insights from his 18+ years of experience.

Amid the clinking of glasses and savoury dishes, the conversations served up plenty of food for thought, tackling topics like:

1. Boosting development with AI and automation

As the starters were served, the discussion turned to how technological progress shapes development processes. Many teams are looking at using generative AI to make their work more efficient, with tools like Github Copilot seen as initial steps to integrate automation.

2. The quest for increased speed in development tasks

Speed, essential in today's development world, was another major talking point, as companies are always on the lookout for ways to fast-track every stage of development, from prototyping to deployment. AI was acknowledged as a significant catalyst for speed, helping developers execute tasks more efficiently.

3. The future of development: Will LLMs replace developers? (Spoiler: never)

Despite AI advancements, there was a strong consensus on the enduring value of human developers. While genAI is praised for improving efficiency, humans' distinctive creative and problem-solving skills remain unrivaled.

Beyond engineering, the conversation drifted into broader industry challenges and opportunities, reflecting the diverse expertise of the attendees. Numerous participants expressed an interest in external consultancy to improve their business and tech strategies, indicating an increased need for professional guidance on generative AI integration. The widespread use of AI in various functions, notably through chatbots, highlighted its growing role across different sectors.

As the evening wrapped up, it was evident that the TechTable dinner achieved its goal of creating meaningful connections and sparking discussions among tech leaders. With every enjoyed bite and shared thought, the event affirmed its ongoing role as a source of inspiration and insight for the tech community.
